A slow return.
Well, over a year since the last post. Sorry about that. Its been busy for the Lone Castle Studios team as always. Our writers have been busy working on their respective projects as well as others not comic book related.
Artist John Bulmer and Writer Tresa Rees-Bulmer welcomed into the world a wonderful little boy. ( He loves Masters of the universe and has a rapidly growing comic book collection already).
Artist John Bulmer has been very active working on studio projects but has also ventured out on some personal ventures as well. He was the guest artist for the second year in a row at FCBD 2011 at Pulp Comics in Niagara Falls Ontario. He was able to be a guest artist at Fun Expo in Welland Ontario with the Canadian Garrison of the 501 st Legion members that make up.Force United Niagara. Fun Expo every year raises money to support the Help a child smile foundation. Information about H.A.C.S can be found at the Force United Niagara website. John was a lucky enough to be included as a guest artist for the first ever Niagara Comic-con among other artists such as Leonard Kirk and Christpher Yao. News of Next years Niagara comic-con can be followed at the facebook page. John has also contributed pinups to a few more indy projects such as Anthony Ball's The Anointed and also was kept quite busy with commissions this summer after the launch of his facebook art page 'The Art of John J.C. Bulmer'.
Currently John is helming pencilling duties for and independent studio group on a 5 issue miniseries. More details will be provided as they come available.
And finally, during Fanexpo 2011 in Toronto, John was able to meet up with talented cartoonist Katie Cook. Katie's art can be seen on such properties as Star Wars, Fraggle Rock and many others including her own web comic Gronk: A monsters story. This week's fan art for Gronk happens to be the Sketch Card John had drawn for Katie as a thank you for providing such an entertaining web comic.
Other guests at Fan Expo 2011 John wishes to thank for their time and fun conversation are: Joe Kubert, Andy Kubert, Richard Evans, Howard Wong, Tom Gofton, Leonard Kirk and close friends Lukas, Josie and Sarah.

A cool book.

The studios members have come across a very cool indy title called "The Underground". This book is made by the creative team at Twisted Studio. Click here to visit their blog. Here you'll get cool updates of there progress, character designs and much more. Be sure to ask about it at your local comic shop. If they don't have they should be able to get it.
There's always sumthin'
Again it's been a little while between posts. There is just always something going on that keeps us from more regular updates. That will soon be changing. As we venture deeper into this new year the studio has had a lot to talk about.
Recently Artist John Bulmer was a contributor to the 3rd Annual Comics For Cures Sketch Card event. This event raises money for cancer research with the auction of hand drawn sketch cards by artists from around the world. The auction will take place this coming april and we will post links in advance right here for both the auction and info on how to participate next year.
The story "Falling Reign" mentioned in a previous post is coming along smoothly and we hope to post some more artwork very soon.
Team writer Tresa Rees-Bulmer has been hard at work again for one of the many murder mystery events she writes and performs with other fellow actors. These one night events are held by the local chapter of the Lions and raises money for the purchase and training of seeing eye dogs. She is also working on the second part to the massive graphic novel we are currently pitching to publishers. The story just keeps getting better!
Writer Shaun Ironside is currently taking a short break to work on the colouring of his project "The Enlightened Ones". More updates on that project as it progresses.
